Transdev Accounting Manager in Boston, Massachusetts

The Accounting Manager is responsible for implementing accounting practices and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises a group of general accountants or accounting clerks in maintaining the general ledger

  • Implements processes and procedures that properly capture, track, and report revenue and expenditures

  • Compiles, reviews, analyzes, and records complex financial information

  • Reviews and interprets balance sheet and profit and loss statements, consolidated financial statements, and other accounting schedules and reports

  • Identifies control weaknesses, communications to management, and operates in a lead capacity in making remedial changes to tighten and enhance controls and mitigate risk

  • Conducts research and analysis on advanced issues

  • Maintains confidentiality of all information

  • Directs activities related to booking of accounting daily transactions, timely preparation/resolution of account reconciliations.

  • Plans, reviews and/or prepares internal and external reports, schedules, and statements.

  • Reviews, monitors, and revises financial controls to ensure that financial reports conform to latest accounting standards and governmental requirements (when applicable).

  • Oversees daily internal audits (AR, Cash Out, Driver Trip Sheets, Credit Card Disputes and Weekly Billing) including proper storage of records; customer charges and payments.

  • Manages and delegates work of the Accounting Clerk; assigns work according to availability, skills, and developmental needs; assesses performance and provides feedback.

  • Interacts with Corporate Accounting Staff and Analysts.

  • Performs other job related duties as requested.

Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications :

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.

  • Progress toward Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Chartered Accountant or similar certification preferred.

Experience :

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience required

  • Supervisory experience preferred

  • Experience in a transit environment preferred

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Knowledge of accounting including accounting theory and principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles required

  • Knowledge of JD Edwards highly 'preferred'.

  • Ability to coach and mentor employees, assign work, develop employees, assess performance and provide performance feedback

  • Ability to interpret, apply, and improve processes and procedures

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Access, Excel, Power Point and Word

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Travel requirement (as a percent): <5% for occasional meetings
