Transdev Assistant General Manager in District Of Columbia

Overview

The principal function of the Assistant General Manager will be to oversee the operations department and employees. The Assistant GeneralManageperforms complex professional and administrative work in planning, scheduling and directing the control and evaluation of the offices, operations and programs of the facility. This location will have 72 vehicles and 90 operators.

This is for proposed business. All employment offers are contingent upon Transdev winning the proposal for business.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all operational performance goals are met.

  • Providing effective operations design, system scheduling, and management.

  • Providing effective quality assurance and continual improvement.

  • Responsible for administering and documenting discipline.

  • Performs financial analysis and assists with budget preparations and revisions.

  • Coordinates the collection and delivery of performance data throughout the location including data from Maintenance, Operations, Human Resources, Safety and Finance.

  • Performs periodic audits and validation of accruals and payroll in order to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations and Company policy.

  • Attending client meetings as required.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, but this may be substituted with five (5) additional years of fixed route transportation experience

Experience :

  • A minimum three (3) years of direct management experience in transit operations.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Labor Relations experience strongly preferred with supervision in a union setting

  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state employment laws

  • Thorough knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations underlying the transit operation

  • Thorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the transit system’s staff and operational departments

  • Ability to deal with state and local government

  • Ability to manage cost control and financial/budget experience handling multiple locations

  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs

  • Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills; ability to influence people at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to organize and perform work efficiently; strong attention to details

  • Ability to work effectively with labor; including labor grievances and negotiations

Travel requirement (as a percent): <5% travel between properties and for meetings and outside training

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.

  • 100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities

  • Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.

  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
