Transdev Parts Manager in Englewood, Colorado

Oversees the Storeroom Staff. The Inventory Manger will manage the Purchasing and Warehouse functions of a depot(s). Purchases include equipment such as maintenance parts along with chemicals and utilities. Freight and logistics services are ordered through this position as well. Fabrication and equipment purchases for multi-million dollar capital jobs are also procured through this position.


Position Duties

  • Manage a unionized workforce, including scheduling, training, and discipline.

  • Daily identification of depot(s) needs by meeting with Maintenance Supervision.

  • Minimize bus down conditions by selecting proper min/max ordering quantities.

  • Insure invoices show correct pricing and are properly coded for payment.

  • Insure all deliveries are properly entered into RTA.

  • Insure all invoices have been processed for months-end reporting.

  • Insure month-end reports are run and forwarded to the CMO’s office.

  • Track and enforce warranties for parts and services.

  • Identify trends, insure sufficient supply of parts and consumables for special projects, campaigns, and weather related events/seasons.

  • Insure the needs of the Maintenance Managers and staff are met in a timely manner.

  • Fill-in for unionized workforce as required.

  • Work with Vendors to find the best pricing and to negotiate purchasing contracts for equipment, parts, services, and supplies. (Vendor Selection, vendor relationships, negotiate pricing)

  • Buyer for goods and services needed by the centralized Maintenance Department for timely work order completion (create purchase requisitions, expedite orders as needed, and follow up on order fulfillment)

  • Identify, buy for, and Maintain proper levels of inventory to avoid project and maintenance down time.

  • Work daily on RTA Inventory system.

  • Work with the accounting group on Vendor payment issues.

  • Support and direct field operations managers with purchasing needs / requests.

  • Annual physical Inventory counts and monthly cycle counts. Work with accounting to reconcile physical inventory to system counts.

  • Manage and direct one Shipping and Receiving / Warehouse operator and provide backup as needed.

  • Arrange for inbound and outbound transportation (freight)

  • Work with Operations and Engineering on capital projects to procure needed equipment at the best price, quality, and delivery schedule.

  • Interact with all levels of operations and management.

  • Research opportunities for savings.

  • Work with Corporate procurement team on large scale initiatives. Provide divisional data for volume discounts.

  • Manage team that is available 24/7 for emergency purchases or inventory issues.

  • Fork lift operator (and trainer).

  • Responsible for keeping the purchasing database up to date and accurate


Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED/equivalent required.

Education Preferred:

  • College degree preferred.


  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (including Word, Outlook, and Excel)

  • Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information/situations.

  • Must be a team player yet able to work well independently.

  • Must be able to work well with a diverse group of internal and external customers.

  • Must be able to work well under pressure.

  • Must be multi-tasking, dependable, and able to take charge. Must have a good sense of urgency. Excellent people management skills.

  • Must pass all pre-employment screening.

Preferred Skills:

  • 5+ years purchasing/warehouse experience preferred.

  • RTA experience a plus.

  • Mechanical backgrounds a plus
