Transdev Lead Dispatcher in Kent, Washington

Oversee Transdev dispatch operations at all three (3) facilities. Ensure dispatch functions are followed and consistent in accordance with the scheduling broker and subcontractor.

Responsibilities:

Primary job functions

  • Supervises daily activities of all dispatch personnel and is a liaison between Operations and Supervised personnel by overseeing daily shift schedules and activity of bus operator

  • Monitors all dispatch operations inassignments of vehicles, checking-in operators reporting for work through current computer software system, ensuring that all manifests are issued in a timely manner

  • Oversees scheduling of operators; monitors operations and coordinates delivery of service with direct reports. Provides a daily report to the Operations Manager

  • Works closely with the maintenance department to ensure that all operation requirements are met and to ensure adequate availability of equipment

  • Track, compile and analyze performance standards related to On Time Performance, Complaints, Missed Service, and other operational standards as described in the RFP/Contract. Handle interdepartmental issues; assists in the resolution of employee issues; improve processes and route scheduling

  • Makes hiring decisions for dispatch roles; Evaluates the work performance of dispatch staff; ensures the timely and efficient completion of all assigned tasks

  • Maintains confidentiality of all information

Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required

  • Possess valid Washington State Driver’s License

Experience Required :

  • Two or more years of transit dispatch experience required

Experience Preferred:

  • Driving experience with Transdev preferred

  • Previous experience with radio dispatch preferred or road supervision preferred

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Must have ability to demonstrate strong leadership skillsAbility to organize logical and efficient schedules and routes and adapt to changes

  • Must have strong computer skills and knowledge of Citrix, trapeze and VDS systems

  • Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and procedures

  • Ability to motivate others while supervising their work; dependability; function effectively within a team-oriented work environment

  • Knowledge of city street systems, peak traffic times and locations, and effects of weather on street conditions

  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret transit system operating rules, regulations, policies, phases and routes

  • General knowledge of the methods of operating two-way communications equipment and proper radio procedures, and ability to communicate via radio or communications system

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to remain calm and organized in emergency and complex transit operation problems

  • Ability to use a multi-line phone system and handle multiple tasks concurrently

  • Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups

Travel requirement (as a percent): <5% for occasional meetings

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must submit to drug testing and a criminal background check

  • Must be able to maintain a DOT medical card

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed

  • Majority of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities

  • Majority of work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.

  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
