Transdev Director of Risk Management in Lombard, Illinois

Overview:

The Director, Risk Management will direct and develop the process for assessing, monitoring, and reducing relevant business risks to the organization’s financial, operational, legal and strategic obligations. The are also responsible for top-level direction, development and implementation of risk management, loss prevention, and regulatory insurance compliance programs for all properties within Transdev North America with an estimated retained risk of 10 million dollars.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops, updates and communicates policies and procedures documentation to comply with legislation and industry practices.

  • Market placement and administration of various insurance programs including property and casualty insurance.

  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with insurance brokers, industry consultants, and insurers supporting risk management in the organization.

  • Champions continuous process improvements to mitigate risks throughout the organization.

  • Develops, leads, and motivates Risk Management staff; sets goals in training and development, performance, and career planning.

  • Review both requests for proposals (RFP’s) to ensure ability to meet insurance requirements and review client contracts to ensure the company is adequately protected and in compliance

  • Review potential acquisitions and identify key risks.

  • Provide field staff technical advice and support related to insurance and risk management issues.

  • Manages the following processes: Certificates of Insurance, Auto ID cards, state and regulatory insurance filings.

  • Review vendor contracts and leases to ensure that Transdev is property protected and compose insurance requirements when needed.

  • Promote and manage the use of data related to risks.

  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications :

  • Bachelor degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration or related subject

  • Designation preferred in ARM or CPCU

Experience :

  • 8 or more years or more of relevant experience required

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience required

  • Experience in transportation environment preferred

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Ability to analyze a variety of complex insurance compliance issues and make sound recommendations

  • Ability to interpret, apply, and improve processes and procedures

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong presentation skills

  • Ability to coach and mentor employees, assign work, develop employees, assess performance and provide performance feedback

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft office suite including advanced Excel skills

Travel requirement outside of immediate area (less than 5 percent)

Physical Requirements:

100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities.

Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.
