Transdev Senior Director of Purchasing in Lombard, Illinois
The Senior Director of Purchasing is responsible for reducing costs and or improving the value of acquired goods and services through the application of effective procurement sourcing strategies and the active management of vendors.
Conduct sourcing initiatives that co-ordinate the aggregate demand of Corporate departments and field locations in order to leverage total spend
Analyze the spend for goods and services along with marketplace dynamics to determine savings opportunities.
Create and monitor annual savings plans for specific categories of spend
Negotiate and manage contracts in order to mitigate risk and maximize savings
Manage strategic vendor relationships and optimize the total supplier base
Provide assistance and professional direction to the departmental and field buyers
Develop and update the Purchasing intranet site
Locate and cultivate DBE qualified vendors
Implement and drive compliance of new vendor programs
Review, approve and set up new vendors
Assist in new client start ups
Perform spot purchases as required
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required :
- College degree and or an accredited Purchasing Certification
5 years of purchasing experience or an appropriate combination of experience and education.
Demonstrated success in the sourcing and purchasing of a broad range of goods and services, as per list below, with a combined annual spend exceeding $100 million:
Fleet - Transit buses, medium duty vehicles, cars and vans
Vehicle maintenance related items – parts, tires, fluids, MRO
Energy related commodities
IT related products and services
Miscellaneous general and administrative expense items
Exceptional track record of building relationships with stakeholders across a large, decentralized organization
Strong negotiation, problem solving and decision making skills
Excellent communication and project management skills
Advanced analytical, Excel and PowerPoint skills
FTA purchasing experience would be an asset
