Transdev IT Manager in New York, New York

Overview:

The IT Manager will be responsible for linking the inter-county BRT transit system to the Integrated Corridor Management (ICM) system in the I-287 corridor, insuring in-vehicle technology is compatible with the rest of the ICM system, establishing communication between the transit operator and the Hudson Valley Transportation Management Center (HVTMC), and managing any staff members located in the HVTMC

Responsibilities:

  • Provide instantaneous information about roadway conditions to the bus drivers, as well as to receive field reports

  • Relay information to and from the other transit operators (Metro-North and Bee-Line) in case of disruptions on any of those respective systems

  • liaison between law enforcement and the bus operator in the event of any security-related incident

  • Manage day to day work of 10 dispatch personnel

Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology a plus, but not required

Experience :

  • Minimum of three or more years of ITS experience at a fixed-route transit property/operation of similar size and scope

  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing transit technology, preferably with similar capabilities to this project

  • Experience in managing control room operatives and in real-time management of a transit system

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Astute understanding of people, management processes, and customers’ needs.

  • Must possess strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills because they are required to interact not only with staff members, but also with other people inside and outside their organizations.

  • Must have an understanding of how a business functions, how it earns revenue, and how technology relates to the core competencies of the business.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of subordinate employees engaged in a variety of activities.

  • Demonstrate ability to identify and understand problems and to determine the appropriate measures it takes to solve problems.

  • Considerable interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Ability to maintain a variety of complex records and to prepare reports.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
