Transdev Shuttle Bus Driver in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Overview

PTGCS is looking to fill the position of full and part time shuttle bus drivers. This position requires a candidate that has good customer service skills along with a good driving history. The qualified applicant also must have the ability to read a map book. The hours for the position may vary per week and also may require the candidate to work a split shift.

Bus Driver-Fixed Route Operator operates a bus and transports passengers safely in accordance with Company policy and local, county, state, and federal laws. This position requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and Passenger Endorsement prior to operating routes.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the transportation of passengers from designated pick-up and drop-off locations in a safe and timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate will have experience in the transportation industry, preferably as a driver

  • Must have knowledge of the City of Pittsburgh and the surrounding area

  • Good customer service skills

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work varying hours, including a split shift

  • Weekday and/or weekend work available!

  • CDL License (Pennsylvania) with a Passenger Endorsement Required

  • Must be able to obtain PA ACT 33/34/73 Clearances

  • Scheduled Work Hours: Ideal candidate must be flexible.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required:

  • Must be 21 years or older

  • Must have a good driving record

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Pennsylvania Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger endorsement.

Education, Licensing, and Certifications Preferred:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, preferred.

Experience:

  • Previous bus or other heavy duty vehicle driving experience preferred

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Good motor skills, good hearing, accurate color perception

  • Ability to apply proper driving procedures

  • Ability to learn transit routes and schedules and adapt to changes; ability to read a map

  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret transit system operating rules, regulations, policies, and routes

  • Ability to assist handicapped passengers when needed

  • Basic math and writing skills

  • Clear speech

  • Travel requirement (as a percent): 100% of time is spent in the field

Pre-Employment Requirements :

  • Must submit to drug testing and a criminal background check

  • Must be able to maintain a DOT medical card

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.

  • Primarily seated in vehicle; stress caused by passengers and traffic

  • Must be able to work in all types of weather

  • Lifting, pulling and pushing are among the physical requirements of performing work in this position. Specific required limits of weight are determined by location site.
