Transdev Maintenance Manager in Allentown, Pennsylvania

The Maintenance Manager oversees the day-to-day functions of mechanics, bus washers, utility workers and administrative staff members. Maintenance facilities typically operate on a three-shift basis to ensure that maintenance on equipment is completed; testes and inspections of products, services and process to evaluate quality or performance of that equipment is accomplished; and specifications are met to DOT, client or company standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees repairs, preventive maintenance, servicing, and cleaning of fleet.

  • Responsible for support services including heavy overhauls, light unit rebuilds, electronic and body repairs.

  • Responsible for the ordering of parts and maintaining inventory.

  • Supervises maintenance personnel including hiring, training, scheduling, promoting, discipline, and terminations.

  • Monitors technician performance and initiates appropriate disciplinary action in a manner consistent with company/location policy.

  • Ensures that all mechanics have the proper licenses and certifications.

  • Supervises and inspects major repairs and provide technical assistance to mechanics.

  • Responsible for directing the work of all technicians including the development of work orders and the evaluation of all repairs performed by both the technicians and outside vendors.

  • Monitors radio communications during route times and ensures that all operator inquires related to the mechanical operations of the vehicle are responded to immediately.

  • Advises General Manager of individual situations that require further attention.

  • Responsible for vehicle titles and registration, which includes Vehicle Change Notice's and annual registration fees.

  • Responsible for DOT compliance and inspections of revenue and service equipment.

  • Other duties to ensure the efficient operation of the maintenance facility.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of management and maintenance experience to include diesel and gas mechanic experience. Experience overseeing managing employees on multiple shifts required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, logistics, or related field of study is preferred.

  • Must have a broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to transportation vehicles to include transmissions, engines, brakes, climate control units, wheelchairs and ancillary electronics.

  • ASE certifications and CDL is required.

  • Must have strong organization and labor relations skills and haver basic math skills for tracking trend and for reporting writing.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication, verbal, and written skills a must.

  • Must be able to work amid constant interruptions, prioritize and deal with time pressures and be able to clearly communicate verbally and in written form.

  • Proficiency in Word, spreadsheets, and RTA fleet management experience.

  • Must be able to perform complex technical and administrative work over-seeing the maintenance program to the standards set by the company and client.

  • Detailed and task orientated, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.

  • Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information/situations.

  • Must be a team player and able to work well with a diverse group of internal and external customers.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination including a drug test.

  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.

  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.

  • Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases, or other irritants.

  • must be able to access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance.

  • Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions.

  • Must be able to travel for company training, meeting or support missions.
