Transdev Operations Manager in Burlington, North Carolina

Position Overview

The Operations Manager assists the General Manager in the day-to-day operational oversight of location operations, including Safety and Human Resources. This person is responsible for supervising the daily activities of all operators and coordinating the activities of supervisors and dispatch personnel. The operations manager also ensures drivers are mentally and physically prepared for their day.

Responsibilities:

  • Involved in hiring, developing, and disciplining drivers and staff.

  • Focus on safety, accidents, and customer complaint resolution.

  • Completes necessary daily and/or weekly reports for company and customer

  • Monitors and evaluates Operations activities. Includes: vehicle on-time statistics, missed runs, customer complaint data, accident data, road call data, and other operations-related functions

  • Performs all other duties as assigned and may assist with other areas based on location needs.

  • Performs drivers’ safety evaluation ride checks, observation of drivers while making their runs, and any necessary retraining. Investigates accidents and incidents.

  • Directly supervises Drivers, responsible to lead, coach, and discipline drivers up through the written warning level of progressive discipline.

  • Reviews and investigates Drive Cam video and applies the appropriate interaction with the driver in accordance with established policies.

  • Provides leadership to the operations employees by demonstrating safe work behaviors and following all company rules and policies.

  • Investigate and respond to situation reports and potential unsafe locations, making reports and recommendations.

  • Responsible for the administration of the company’s Drug and Alcohol testing and Work Comp programs.

  • Embraces Transdev’s safety vision; adopts and employs the company’s safety rules, policies, and procedures; effectively communicates safety and on-time service expectations to drivers.

  • Provide oral and written reports, statistics, data, and information internally and externally.

  • Maintains complete confidentiality of all information.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required CDL Class C, B or A license

  • Two years experience as a Driver or Supervisor for public transportation service

  • Previous paratransit driving and supervision experience preferred

  • 3-5 years’ experience in paratransit operations/1-2 years of transit supervisory experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements to assure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local laws for operating demand response transportation services (FTA, DOT, ADA, and Drug &

  • Alcohol, DOJ Title VI, and State DOT regulation)

  • Experience managing schedulers, dispatchers, and drivers

  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office. The ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage time effectively.

  • The ability to appropriately interact with employees of all levels, including drivers, customers, senior management, client representatives, union officials, and the general public.

  • Work extended hours, including weekends and holidays if needed. Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.

  • Possess a working vehicle to travel to and from work

This position is subject to DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
