Directly supervises the mechanics and the Utility workers in the absence of the Utility Supervisor, monitors outside contract laborers; schedules the repairs and maintenance of a wide variety of light to Medium powered equipment; ensures an environment that meets safety and regulatory requirements.
Pay Scale is $70k-$75k annually.
Works with Human Resources by participating in interview panels for maintenance positions
Coordinates coach/fleet vehicle repairs, maintenance and servicing
Creates work orders in RTA for repairs to coaches, reviews past work orders for repairs to coaches, and reviews and closes current work orders
Makes on-the-spot decisions regarding repairs; and, at times, makes on-the-spot repairs
Consults with mechanics on diagnosis and procedures for repair and assists with technical questions
Performs quality assurance checks on repairs completed by technicians
Works with Parts personnel to obtain the correct replacement parts
Monitors the status of down/out-of-service equipment and issues a daily report
Addresses any environmental concerns or issues that develop along with Maintenance Director
Performs other duties as assigned
Skills and Knowledge Required
Master ASE Certified a plus
Transit experience preferred
Cummins experience with an emphasized strong background in diagnostics to include:
Engines, transmissions, suspension, electrical, brakes
Cummins Insight, Wabco, ZF transmission computer diagnostics
Excellent communication skills required
Must be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
Must be able to work amid constant interruptions, prioritize and deal with time pressures and be able to clearly communicate verbally and in written form
Must have strong organizational skills
This position is autonomous and self-directed and the ability to handle crisis/conflict is required
