Overview

The CEO/Executive Director- NICE Bus, provides strategic leadership for the operation by working with the executive branch of local government and other elected officials. Additionally, they are responsible for collaborating with Transdev senior leadership to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans, service modes, and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the local organization with regard to developing and communicating the vision for establishing & maintaining a culture of safety.

  • As a member of the community, the CEO helps to define the organization’s vision and strategies to achieve that vision, including maintaining strong and transparent relationships with key municipal and community partners and leaders.

  • Develops and maintains an effective local team through selection, coaching, team building and sustenance of a healthy respectful working environment where people can perform, grow, and achieve their individual potential.

  • Defines and demonstrates appropriate leadership behavior with emphasis on integrity, inclusion and teamwork at all levels of the organization.

  • Develops and monitors strategies for ensuring the long-term financial viability of the contract, ensuring a proper balance of investment, expense control and transparency.

  • Responsible for optimizing EBIT within applicable constraints.

  • Leads the organization in developing annualbudget in collaboration with local government partners that supports the operating plan; manages the organization within budgetary guidelines in compliance with governing laws and regulations; provides timely, thorough, and accurate financial and operating information to assist leadership team with decision making.

  • Monitors, understands and translates to the organization the effects of important external factors that affect organizational performance including legal, regulatory, social, and economic factors.

  • Provides strategic input and leadership on the evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions, mergers or service expansion opportunities. Also provides strategic and creative leadership for responding to market conditions that may require new lines of business or alternate strategies for achieving competitive advantage.

  • Serves as the primary spokesperson and representative for the organization ensuring that the organization is consistently presented in a positive way to all relevant stakeholders; acts as a liaison between the organization and the communities, politicians, the financial community, key professional associations, clients, and also with strategic alliances, such as unions, lobbyists, and consulting firms, as well as building relationships with peer organizations where appropriate.

  • Evaluates the organizational structure to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness; leads a culture of process improvement in all activities.

  • Develops future leadership of the company;coaches and mentors team; assigns work according to availability, skills, and developmental needs; assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports.

  • Collaborates with complementary corporate resources.

  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education, Certification, Licenses Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Experience Required:

  • Experience managing a transit system with 500 or more employees.

  • Experience managing several transportation modes, coupled with multiple contracts, collective bargaining agreements, and vendors.

  • Experience managing and securing federal grants.

  • Experience with procurement.

  • Experience in a role responsible for ticketing, implementing new technologies, marketing transit services, promoting new mobility solutions, and ridership.

  • Experience working with operations, processes and metrics within the transportation industry.

  • Experience implementing financial and operational key performance indicators within the transportation industry.

  • Experience working with transit operations regulations.

  • Experience managing and developing an operational budget.

  • Experience developing business strategies, and executing on strategic initiatives.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Ability to navigate in a highly political and litigious environment.

  • Ability to display a high degree of diplomacy in all circumstances.

  • Polished and Savvy communicator both written and verbal.

  • Ability to address large audiences and deliver a clear and concise message.
