Garden City, NY

The Finance Department oversees the accounting, financial and regulatory reporting for the NICE Bus operation. The department is responsible for preparing external financial reports and reporting on/forecasting the Company’s financial position. This position has a focus on, but is not limited to, financial reporting (including monthly, quarterly and year end audited financial statements and presentation) and involvement with external/internal examinations. This position will report to the Transdev VP of Finance and the Chief Executive Officer of NICE Bus.  The Controller will be responsible for carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance/Accounting Department and oversight of the payroll and procurement teams.The position supports the growth and responsibilities of the department and will have interaction with all levels of management and all departments of the organization. The salary range for this position is $140-180K.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of the finance/accounting, grants, payroll and procurement departments.

  • Preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, including revenue and expense projections.

  • Perform monthly close of balance sheet and income statement accounts.

  • Prepare journal entries, month end close reports and financial statements.

  • Ensure proper processing of the weekly payroll for approximately 1,000 employees.

  • Development, submission and project management of annual federal (FTA) grants.

  • Preparation of Federal, State and Countyrequired reporting requirements.

  • Supervision of operating and capital procurements to ensure that federal, state and local rules and regulations are followed.

  • Responsible for reporting on monthly key performance indicators.

  • Maintain compliance with all corporate standards for financial reporting.

  • Assist with other duties and projects, as assigned.

  • Ad hoc analysis as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or equivalent external work experience.

  • Detailed, analytical individual with 3+ years of public/private accounting or finance experience.

  • Strong understanding of and experience in US GAAP financial reporting preferred

  • Ability to set priorities, multi-task, meet critical deadlines and pay attention to detail.

  • Strong quantitative, problem solving and communications skills are required.

  • Efficient, motivated individual with ability to work independently

  • Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.

  • Strong MS Office Suite skills, particularly Excel.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in order to interact with all levels of personnel including senior management.
