Transdev Utility Supervisor in Hillburn, New York

The Utility Supervisor ensures that all vehicles are fueled daily, that vehicles have daily fluid checks, the fare boxes are probed and emptied daily, and they make sure that vehicles are washed and interior is cleaned each night, inclusive of wheels and swept each night.

Responsibilities

  1. Schedules workload of utility staff (fueler/cleaners).

  2. Supervises, counsels, and trains all new employees.

  3. Ensures that major detailing schedule is adhered to and that nightly vehicle accountability reports are completed and accounted for.

  4. Monitors the stationing of vehicles inclusive of parking, ensuring power switches are turned off and windows closed.

  5. Reports equipment defects and check to see if fare boxes are in working order.

  6. Responsible for inventory and ordering of cleaning supplies.

  7. Ensure basic troubleshooting of two-way radio units and that visual systems on vehicles are working properly.

  8. Enters vehicle updates and other required reporting into computerized system.

  9. Ensures that crew properly fuels all vehicles prior to stationing.

  10. Responsible for checking fluid levels and adjusting as needed.

  11. Ensures that employees are practicing safety first and they maintain that the work area is organized and clean before, during, and after the work shift.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years’ utility, facility, or janitorial supervisory experience.

  • Knowledge of shop safety standards preferred.

  • Strong commitment to safety.

  • Valid drivers’ license.

  • Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to perform without constant or immediate supervision.

  • Ability to interpret and initiate policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use personnel computers and related software.

  • Strong problem-solving capability.

  • Considerable interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Proven organization skills, understanding importance of prioritizing effectively and managing multiple tasks in a fast-pace environment.The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by the employee to successful perform the essential functions of this job. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • 10% of work is accomplished in doors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.

  • 90% of work is accomplishedoutside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; most work is performed alone and in remote locations.

  • Frequently stands and walks; walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; ability to lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with assistance; ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch; and corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication.

  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.

  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
