Transdev Senior Vice President, Business Development in Lombard, Illinois

Overview

The Senior Vice President of Business Development (SVP of BD) reports to the Executive Vice President of Development and Innovation and performs the critical function of growing Transdev revenue in North America through overseeing the Business Development group. The SVP of BD's primary focus is to lead the advanced commercial activities of the business development group while managing both the proposal writing and production teams to create compelling and successful offers to our clients. Responsibilities include working with the Vice Presidents of Business Development (VP's of BD) to ensure an effective strategy has been developed for each target account and that such strategy is being implemented to the fullest extent possible. The SVP of BD will also manage the day to day activities of the Business Development support team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the company to Grow Revenue to meet Long Term Plan targets.

  • Works with the VP's of BD to identify future targets for the next two years and develops an effective sales strategy for each.

  • Directly manages the VP's of BD; Director of Development and coordinates the activities of the pricing team.

  • Manages and, as necessary, modifies the business development prospecting and proposal development processes.

  • Evaluates the performance of staff members, identifying goals for further development and evaluating progress against personal development plans.

  • Assigns projects to team members and evaluates progress to insure the timely, successful submission of proposals.

  • Prepares technical elements in support of proposals in response to customers’ Request for Proposals (RFP).

  • Researches operating elements of proposed services and identifies resources and costs out solutions.

  • Assists in the development of proposal outlines and strategies.

  • Reviews and edits all final proposal documents.

  • Reviews and analyzes competitor proposals in order to generate approaches for improving future new business efforts.

  • Assists in the mobilization efforts of new business.

  • Prepares proposal support documents including RFP Scans, Proposal Go-No Go documents, proposal development schedules and proposal outlines.

  • Represents the company at key industry events.

  • Takes on responsibility for developing key projects as determined by theExecutive Vice President of Development and Innovation.

Other duties as may be required in the advancement of new business or the improvement of the Transdev organization.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Marketing, Transportation Planning or related field required

Experience :

  • 10 or more years of experience in sales and/or business development, preferably in a public transit environment

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Demonstrates an ability to manage a diverse team of professionals in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Demonstrates an ability to develop focused, well-written documents from diverse sources of information in a manner that sells the product

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat, Project and Illustrator or equivalent

  • Demonstrates an ability to conduct Internet research and download information for use in proposals

  • Demonstrates an understanding of creating cohesive written and visual documents

  • Brings creative energy to the creation of compelling proposals

  • Works effectively and efficiently under strict deadlines on multiple projects

  • Excels in a team environment, supporting and assisting the efforts of other team members

Travel requirement (as a percent): 75% of time
