Overview of Position:

The Sr. Director of Technology will report directly to VP, b2b and b2g Products, and will be a key member of the executive team, collaborating with peers to continue to create and build groundbreaking fixed and on demand transportation management solutions and applications. A technologist with a business focus, the successful candidate will lead, train, develop and hire the best talent in the industry.

The ideal candidate will be a leader by example, promoting a positive company culture and fostering transparency throughout the organization. This person approaches problems with insight and creativity in equal measure, always focusing on delivering value to the business. They will treat everyone as a peer, and understand that listening is essential to effective communication.

The Sr. Director, Software Engineering will understand the requirement to prioritize resources, driven by data and quantifiable business metrics as well as customer-centric sensibilities. This person must have strong experience recruiting top talent, and be motivated by a tenacious passion for building a team of people they are proud to know and work with.

An understanding of when to focus on agile processes to accelerate learning in the discovery and development of new products and services, and when to focus on efficiency and optimization of proven offerings, combined with a solid perspective on security, performance and operational efficiency will be key.


Drive process/performance improvements within the software engineering group to ensure that Transdev meets or exceeds its business plans and goals, focusing on developing data driven products and services which address the continuing transformations taking place in the world of transportation. Leverage the utilization of performance data and work to set ambitious reachable goals.

Provide strong local leadership and coordinate with a globally distributed teams by driving the development of shared strategies, and plans; foster communication, visibility, access, and collaboration throughout engineering within Transdev; driving for unity and collaboration based on a solid foundation of trust and communication.

Recruit, hire, assess, develop and retain outstanding technical talent. Ensure that engineers have the resources and tools they need to excel.

Work cross-functionally within the organization to ensure that new features and products are well built in a timely manner and that the user experience is world class.

Help set policies, priorities, and strategies as member of the core executive management team.

Work with leaders throughout Transdev to understand business challenges and opportunities and identify areas where products and services developed by the software development group team will bring the greatest value to the business.

Facilitate communication and collaboration between analytics and software development to ensure efficient use of resources. This will include articulating priorities and strategic objectives, creating and tracking milestones which support those objectives, and providing updates to high level stakeholders regarding progress.

Education required:

An advanced degree in a STEM discipline, or bachelor's degree with comparable experience.

Education Preferred:

Advanced Degree in Computer Science,MBA very beneficial.

Experience required :

10+ years of experience in software development

5+ years of software development management experience.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

Must be an outstanding technologist and software engineer by training, with experience in developing products and services in SaaS, mobile and cloud environments.

Experience leading a performance-driven engineering organization at scale, preferably across multiple geographies, with a record of on time product releases products and improvements at a rapid pace.

Expertise with agile methodologies, experience is required, lean methodologies expertise is valuable.

Has owned technical strategy, planning, and execution. Has recruited, hired, and developed outstanding engineering talent, and, has managed other engineering leaders.

Has a proven track record in driving growth, productivity, and quality.

Has proven outward-facing skills, in client relationship management, and in working with leaders across the business.

Has owned a set of technically complex, interrelated products.

Has led groups within large and small companies.

Has driven change management programs.

Has collaboratively formulated corporate or business-unit-level strategies and plans.

Travel Requirements:

Travel requirement outside of immediate area: up to 25%
