Transdev Construction Project Manager in San Dimas, California

Overview

VTMI, a Rail division of Transdev North America, is looking for a Construction Project Manager to plan Rail project/s and oversee the progress along the way in a timely and cost-effective manner.

You will be responsible for budgeting, organization, implementation and scheduling of the projects, managing, monitoring and running railroad construction job/s adhering to the profit goal, compliance, timely completion and safe execution of the project from start to finish.

You will work and coordinate with the estimating Manager and Estimator/s concerning budgets, billings, material procurement, equipment and labor application in conformity to the project estimate. You must have the ability to perform and provide contract administration, document control and estimating support on RFP / ITB/ IFB projects for bid, have proficient skill in blue print reading and understanding to take-on quantity survey.

Responsibilities

  • Project management, oversight, coordination, start-up and close-out administration.

  • Review the project in-depth (debriefing) with the Estimating Manager to know the project’s estimated costs, schedule and processing of all contract required submissions, material data and shop drawings to ensure materials approval are expedited and delivered on time to meet project milestones.

  • Attend meeting and conferences with the Owner, Engineers, Construction Management and Subcontractors. Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status.

  • Direct construction crew and coordinate with Subcontractors, Construction Management and Engineer.

  • Ensure quality construction standards are implemented and the use of proper construction techniques in compliance with the FRA code of regulations, CPUC standards and work safety regulations.

  • Oversee all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor, analyze, manage and mitigate risks.

  • Review the work progress on daily basis to meet contractual conditions of performance.

  • Plan-ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.

  • Negotiate terms of agreements, refer and review change order work estimate with the estimating Manager before submitting to Prime Contractor or Owner.

  • Review and distributes proposal change document to Subcontractor/Supplier and assists in collecting pricing and/or prepares change proposal requests for internal pricing review.

  • Direct the Project Engineer to serve as the onsite Quality Manager to verify Subcontractor material deliveries meet the approved submittal requirements.

  • Ensures all clarifications, changes, directives, RFIs, etc., are updated, documented and are fully coordinated to all Subcontractors and Suppliers in scheduling owner required close-out documents, and assisting Subcontractors and Suppliers in scheduling owner required training and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in building science, construction management, civil engineering or related construction science and/or with 3 to 5 years proven working experience in railroad construction management.

  • Understanding and knowledge of all facets of railroad construction process, means and methods.

  • Competent in conflict and crisis management.

  • Strong leadership and human resources management skills.

  • Excellent time and project management skills, strong communications skills.

  • Good knowledge of MS office products, project scheduling software (P6, MS Project, etc.).

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Potential for long hours and weekend work as needed.
